3 REASONS WHY CHRISTIANS DON'T DO THE WILL OF GOD.
Proverbs 19:21 "You can make
many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail".
Corruption, hunger, Adultery,
fornication, murder, fighting, e.t.c. these are all the fruits of disobedience.
The plans of humans without God. But certainly, we know that it is the purpose
of God that will prevail.
Ever since the days of the apostles,
the spirit of the antichrist has been in existence, dragging people away from
knowing God and believing in the death and resurrection of the messiah: Jesus
Christ.
1 John 2:22 "And who is a
liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the
Father and the Son is an antichrist".
1 John 4:3 "But if someone
claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that
person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which
you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here".
The word "anti" simply
means a condition where somebody does not like or agrees with something or
someone.
You can clearly see from the two
scriptures above, that anti-Christ people does not agree that Jesus is the
messiah and will not agree with his teachings.
The other categories of people are
the Christians, who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ but
for some certain reasons, don't do the will of God.
These are the set of people, that we will be focusing on and examining 3 powerful reasons why they don't do the will of God. The only way they can show God that they love him.
1. LACK OF FAITH.
Hebrews 11:6 "And it is
impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must
believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him".
Without faith it is impossible to please God. To please God is to believe in his son Jesus Christ and to do his will. Permit me to breakdown Faith into 3 integrated components. I used the word "integrated" to show that these 3 components of Faith are completely dependent on each other.
Matthew 11:28 “Then Jesus said, “Come
to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you
rest".
We can learn from Jesus Christ and
cast our burdens upon him by doing the following:
1.1.1 PRAYING: Pray in tongues
and with understanding. Pray without season.
1.1.2 READING AND MEDITATING ON
THE WORD OF GOD
Psalms 1:1-6 "[1] Oh, the
joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with
sinners, or join in with mockers. [2] But they delight in the law of the
Lord, meditating on it day and night. [3] They are like trees planted along
the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they
prosper in all they do. [4] But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff,
scattered by the wind. [5] They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly. [6] For the Lord watches over the
path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction".
Three things happen when we pray,
read the word of God and meditate upon it.
1.1.2.1 God moves on our behalf,
dealing with situations pertaining to us.
1.1.2.2 God cleans us by the power of
the word. Our minds get transformed.
1.1.2.3 God gives us instructions on
what to do to live a victorious life.
1.2 TRUST: The second
component of Faith is Trust. You have to trust that God is capable of doing
abundantly above all we could think and ask. You have to understand that God is
not a man that he should lie. Anything he says, surely he will do. All God's
instructions, promises are all geared towards bringing you into a beautiful
destiny.
1.3 ABIDE: The last component
of the Faith is you persistently and consistently living in God: seeking God
and doing his will. This particular component of Faith is the Apex of Faith.
This section reveals to God that you love him.
John 14:15 “If you love me, obey
my commandments".
Doing the Will of God shows that you
love him.
Reliance, trust and Abiding, these 3
are the key elements of Faith, without any of these 3, your Faith will be
considered dead and invalid.
We also need to understand that as we
pray, read/meditate on the word of God, our mind is being transformed into the
ideal image that God desire it to become. As our mind is being transformed, God
causes us to desire and to do his will.
2. THE PLEASURES OF SIN: Sin is simply you walking contrary to
God's commandments. It can be thinking, saying or doing that which is wrong in
the eyes of the lord.
Our flesh, which is the falling state
of man, enjoys the pleasures of sin.
James 1:14-15 [14] But every man is
tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. [15] Then when
lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished,
bringeth forth death.
It is the desire of our flesh that
leads us to sin and not the desire of the spirit. The second greatest miracle
that can happen to any Christian is the renewal of the mind: having same mind
as to the one that was in Christ.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in
you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw
that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a
tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did
eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
In Genesis 3:6, you could see how the
lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life: which are all
the desires of the flesh, were manipulated by the devil to bring eve into sin.
As Christians, we must forsake the
pleasures of sin. The word "forsake" simply means to discipline you
not to do a thing, despite having the feelings or desire to do it. In
Christianity are you allowing the holy-spirit to empower you to discipline your
flesh to do the will of God?
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his
sins shall not prosper: but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them
shall have mercy.
One of the ways that we can forsake
our sinful pleasures is by guarding our hearts/minds with all diligence, as the
word of God prompts us to do. This leads us to the third reason why Christians
don't do the will of God.
3. NOT GUARDING YOUR HEART/MIND WITH
ALL DILIGENCE.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with
all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
The mind of humans is the central
processing unit of any human being. The birth place of all thoughts, leading to
emotions and actions.
The mind works with the computer
principle of garbage in, garbage out.
Whatever you think at a given moment
in time generates feelings or emotions, and we as humans, take actions most of
the time base on our emotions at a given moment in time.
It is the holy-spirit through the
power of the word of God that changes our mind, therefore causing us to desire
and to do the will of God.
It is also the holy-spirit that empowers
us to discipline our flesh to obey the will of God at a time when our flesh
begins to desire evil.
The mind is one of the components of
the soul. The components of the soul are as follows: The mind, the will and the
emotions/feelings.
There are 5 gateways to your mind.
1. The gateway of hearing
2. The gateway of seeing
3. The gateway of taste
4. The gateway touch
5. The gateway of smell.
These gateways collect information
from the outside world into your mind.
The type of information they collect
and deposit to your mind, determine the type of thoughts you will have and the
subsequent desires and actions that will be generated as a result of those
dominant thoughts.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh
in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is
not with thee.
Among these 5 gateways there are 2
gateways that have powerful influence on the way the mind is programmed and
what your dominant thoughts will be always. These two gateways are: hearing and
seeing.
It was what Eve heard from the
serpent that activated her mind to begin to desire the benefits that the
forbidden fruit in the garden will give to her.
From James 1:14-15, we understand
that the devil only tempts our desires. But the devil also plants seeds into
our minds through any of the 5 gateways to activate an evil desire in us for
him to tempt us.
Whatever activities consume most of
your time, that activity creates dominant thoughts in you, therefore producing a
corresponding emotion to those dominant thoughts which leads to actions.
Acts of the Apostles 2:42 All the
believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to
fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to
prayer.
The apostles of the early church
understood this principle of guarding their minds with all diligence, which was
why they filled their time with the activities listed in Acts 2:42.
Psalms 1:1-2 [1] Oh, the joys of
those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers. [2] But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
A blessed man fills his time by
meditating on the word of God. Therefore causing the word of God to be the most
dominant thoughts in his mind. When the word of God is the dominant thoughts
of your mind, your mind will get transformed and the will of God will
automatically become your will easily.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
When the most dominant thoughts in
your mind is the word of God, you will look at a woman who is your
specifications and not have any sexually lusted thoughts towards her. Your
thoughts towards her will be pure, radiating the love of God that was poured
into your heart by the holy-spirit.
Romans 12:1-2 [1]I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[2]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God.
CONCLUSION
As an Action Christian, creation is
earnestly waiting for the manifestation of the children of God to reveal the
kingdom of God to the world; through Faith in Christ Jesus. This can only be
done by doing the will of God. Matthew 6:10 "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done in earth, as it is in heaven".
